TripSplit Privacy Policy

Effective July 5, 2026

TripSplit does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. Everything you enter stays on your device.

Data storage

All information you create in TripSplit — trips, participants, expenses, balances, payment records, and receipt photos — is stored locally on your device only. TripSplit has no servers, no user accounts, and no cloud sync. We never see your data.

Data collection

TripSplit collects no personal data, no usage analytics, and no identifiers. The app contains no advertising and no third-party SDKs.

Camera and photos

If you choose to attach a receipt to an expense, TripSplit asks for camera or photo library access. Receipt images are stored on your device alongside your expense data and are never uploaded anywhere.

Messages

If you use the settle-up messaging feature, TripSplit pre-fills a text message in Apple's Messages app. The message is sent by you, through your own Messages account; TripSplit does not send, receive, or store any messages.

Deleting your data

Deleting a trip removes all of its expenses, participants, and payment records. Deleting the app removes all TripSplit data from your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
